Nativity Removed From Air Force Base

Posted: Updated:

A Christmas controversy hit South Carolina after a nativity scene on an Air Force Base was removed.

The scene set up by volunteers from the base chapel was removed last Friday from Memorial Lake near the Shaw Air Force base in Sumter.

The display was dismantled in response to complaints from the military religious freedom foundation that said it was unconstitutional and in violation of regulations because it was not inclusive to all faiths.

At least 41 airmen on the base contacted the founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation who then contacted the Pentagon to file a formal complaint.
