Christmas Gifts Stolen

Posted: Updated:
NETHER PROVIDENCE TWP., Pa. -

The signs of Christmas are everywhere in nether providence. From the holiday decorations to the Christmas lights and even a snow man or two. Gifts have even started to arrive courtesy of ups and other delivery companies, but that's where this story takes a turn.

Scott Carter: "It's sad in a way that people are that desperate around the holidays."

Sad because police here say a local woman has allegedly been following package delivery companies around this neighborhood and others since early December, removing the gifts from front porches as fast as you can say the Grinch who stole Christmas.

Chief David Splain: "She'll be charged with theft or receiving stolen property."

Local police are investigating after a neighbor spotted the woman driving a red SUV and removing packages from the front porches of residents here.

Chief David Splain: "Fortunately the neighbor was sharp enough to get the tag off the car."

Scott Carter "It's a great neighborhood it could happen anywhere."

Police went to the woman's home in Upland and found a pile of packages. The investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been filed yet.

Donna Bailey: "It's really sad people are out of work, can't get jobs. They're out stealing."

Scott Carter: "Fortunately she got caught and people can get their items back. "

Police are now trying to retrace the woman's steps and locate the rightful owners of these Christmas gifts. The labels were reportedly removed. Anyone who believes they are missing packages should contact police.

Chief David Splain "We're looking for the public's assistance to help identify any item that they may have ordered that they have not received yet."
