Family and friends are mourning the death of a Frisco kindergarten student who became ill at school last week.
The Collin County Medical Examiner is trying to determine the cause of death of Meaghan Levy.
The 5-year-old girl became ill at Corbell Elementary School last Thursday morning and died a few hours later.
Meaghan's grandmother told FOX 4 the girl passed out in a hallway. Several people attempted to revive her, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she died.
Community members organized a "pink out" over the weekend to honor the girl. The school's campus was decorated in pink ribbons and balloons on Monday and some wore pink clothes.
"The kids are just trying to process what happened," said Erika Ward, the mother of another student. "They were telling me they didn't know someone's body could stop working and that your heart could stop beating and feet could stop moving."
Frisco police said there is no investigation into the death because it's considered an accident.
The medical examiner is awaiting results from toxicology reports before declaring a cause of death.
The family set up a memorial fund in Meaghan Levy's name. Donations can be made at any Compass Bank.
