911 tape: Suspected gunman says he'll shoot others

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man accused of holding his ex-girlfriend hostage and shooting a police officer in the face warned a 911 dispatcher he would shoot anyone else who tried to enter the home.

Suspect Eric M. Anderson was one of several people who called 911 during Thursday night's shooting. Other callers included the hostage's father, who received text messages from her with during the ordeal.

The recordings were released Monday.

In one, Anderson tells a dispatcher, "I already shot a cop. I'm not afraid to shoot her."

The 41-year-old resident of suburban Niles also says, "I'm in the basement. If anybody comes in here, I'm shooting them."

Arlington Heights police officer Michael McEvoy was the first to respond and was shot in the face. He is expected to recover.
