Selfie heaven at Infinity Mirrored Room

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The snow and rain couldn't keep the crowds away from David Zwirner Gallery on West 19th Street. Some waited more than 5 hours for their 45 seconds of fame.

"I saw it on Instagram, Facebook, everywhere, so I wanted to check it out," said Narae Kwon of Queens. "I didn't think it was going to be this cold."

All of these people were waiting to get into Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room. They say it's the hottest selfie location in the city, so I had to check it out.

There's actually water all around me, this is a timed lighting experience. The lights are hanging from the ceiling, so it feels like it goes on forever. It just goes on and on and on. The infinite mirrors create this magical feeling, like something out of a dream. Visitors get less than a minute to the masterpiece, but it's still enough to take it in.

"It's beautiful you can't describe it, you get so overwhelmed," Nina Crone said.

Sebastian Ammann said: "You're just in some kind of separate world so I thought that would be a great place to do it."

It is the perfect place to propose to Mary. They're the fourth couple to get engaged here.

The 84 year-old Japanese artist has been featured in Chelsea for about two months.

Thousands of people have flooded the gallery, posting their pictures on social media.

"All kinds of people, families are coming, tourists are coming, it's introducing people to the neighborhood," said Anita Ragusa, the gallery director.

The exhibit also features a second infinity room called "Love is Calling" with neon blow-up tentacles. There are also a number of paintings, which can go for up to $650,000 apiece.

Saturday is the last day you can check this exhibit. The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It's always a good idea to get here early so you can beat that line.
