Man Reunites Family With Dog Reported Lost After Tornado

Posted: Updated:
Clinton County, IN -

It took more than a month, but an Indiana family has finally reunited with their lost dog!

Last month, a powerful tornado ripped through the town of Mellott badly damaging the Robinson's home.During the terrifying moments, the family got separated with their dog Rosco.

A man saw Rosco wandering without tags and brought it to an animal shelter. No one claimed the dog so, the animal shelter put Rosco up for adoption and a woman adopted the boxer.

Jim Tate, Director of the Clinton County Humane Society, called the old owner to let them know the dog was still alive. He made it his mission to help reunite the Robinsons with their dog.

Only problem, the new owner fell in love with Rosco and refused to return the 3-year-old boxer.

"We called and we got it set up she agreed to go ahead and give the dog back. Once we got right down to it she realized she couldn't, she really fell in love with the dog," Tate said.

After some negotiating, the woman finally gave in. On Wednesday Rosco was reunited with the Robinsons.

The Robinsons have agreed to reimburse the woman $275 she paid in fees while adopting Rosco.
