PLANO, Texas -

Plano law enforcement officials are warning people about a police impersonator.

Police said a woman was pulled over at about 8 p.m. Sunday on Independence Parkway near 15th Street by a man whose car had blue and yellow flashing lights on the dashboard.

The fake cop was wearing what appeared to be a uniform shirt and police equipment belt. He asked the woman for her driver's license and proof of insurance, police said.

The man let the woman go after he took money from her wallet, police said.

No detailed description of the suspect was released.

Anyone who spots a similar suspicious person or vehicle is encouraged to call 911 or the Plano Police Department at 972-424-5678.
