A woman originally thought to have been shocked at the Denver Zoo turned out to just be very drunk.
The disoriented woman entered the elephant enclosure Monday night during the zoo's annual holiday light show and sat down next to electrical wires.
Police announced that they were responding to a possible electrocution but later said the 21-year-old woman was intoxicated. She was arrested after being taken to the hospital.
Zoo officials said the woman scaled a fence designed to keep people out of the elephant exhibit. No animals were in the pen at the time.
The zoo said alcohol is served during the zoo's holiday programming, like beer and spiked apple cider.
The Denver Post reported Tuesday the woman will be charged with trespassing.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
