Grand Prairie police continue to investigate a shooting that left two officers wounded and a 16-year old Mansfield boy dead.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner said Peyton Barbour died from multiple gunshot wounds.
A police department spokesman said officers who were searching for the suspect in the Grand Peninsula neighborhood got a tip around 2 p.m. about a suspicious person.
As the officers got to the scene in the 600 block of East Seeton Road they were met with gunfire. Two officers were hit, one in the hand and one in the foot. Their wounds are superficial and they are expected to recover.
Barbour was transported to Parkland Hospital, where he died.
Police believe Barbour is the same person officers tried to pull over on North Camino Lagos early Wednesday morning. After a brief chase, the teen jumped out of his car and got away.
Several police departments, including helicopter and K-9 units, helped with the manhunt in the Lynn Creek Park area off Lake Ridge Parkway. People who live in the area were encouraged to stay inside until the search was over.
"We just heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop," said Steve Cremer, who filmed the final moments of the shootout that happened behind his home. "It appeared like he was injured because he was walking really slow."
Barbour attended Mansfield Lake Ridge High School.
Emma Villaire, a friend of Barbour's, said Barbour had many friends at school. But she said Barbour was troubled and recently spent time at a juvenile facility for stealing a car.
