Robbery suspect in custody after firing at Fort Worth officers

Posted: Updated:

A 23 year old Fort Worth man is in police custody after firing at least one shot at officers Friday night.

Police Capt. Charles Ramirez says Christian Stephens was taken into custody in a wooded area on Meadowbrook Drive in east Fort Worth after he opened fire on officers who were chasing him. The officers did not return fire but were able to take Stephens into custody.

Capt. Ramirez says an officer spotted Stephens behind a business and the suspect ran into the wooded area. Stephens was a suspect in connection with two auto parts store armed robberies that happened a few minutes before on East Lancaster Ave.

After Stephens was taken into custody, Ramirez says, officers located a weapon and money in the wooded area.
