Flood Watch issued for Georgia through Sunday afternoon

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

It is expected to be a rainy weekend and that has prompted a Flood Watch to be issued for most of Georgia through Sunday afternoon.

Some areas can expect up to 2 inches of rain on top of an already saturated state. Many river, creeks and streams are already near flood stage.

Track the rain with FOX 5's Live VIPIR Radar

A Flood Warning was issues on Saturday for Big Creek in Forsyth and Fulton counties. The creek is expected to crest about a foot and a half above its flood stage of 7 feet. That will mostly affect walkways along the waterway.

Other waterways may soon join Big Creek with a warning as the rain continues to come down, but localize flooding is also possible as heavy rains move through.
