Texas Game Warden Shot, Hospitalized in Dallas

Posted: Updated:

A Texas game warden is in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after being shot while hunting at Cooper Lake State Park in Delta County.  Cooper Lake State Park is about 80 miles Northeast of Dallas.  Delta County Sheriff Ricky Smith says game warden Chris Fried was bow hunting and was off duty when he was shot around 6 p.m. Sunday.  Fried was shot in the chest and also suffered a wound to his left arm.  Sheriff Smith says the shooting does not appear to be intentional. Investigators interviewed hunters in the area, but have not identified a suspect.
