Clerk describes terrifying armed robbery in SW Fulton County

Posted: Updated:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

A Walgreens clerk had a terrifying start to the New Year when two men tried to rob her store in southwest Fulton County.

Less than three hours into 2014, two armed men entered the Walgreens on Cascade Road and tried to steal an ATM that was bolted to the floor.

"When he realized that the ATM couldn't move, that's when he robbed us," said the clerk.

The clerk said that the robbers then forced a coworker to open the register and hand over the cash.

"They had a hoodie and bandana," said the clerk.

The clerk now wonders if the gunmen are the same ones who robbed the Walgreens twice in November. Fulton County police are still reviewing records to confirm that.

A Walgreens representative told FOX 5's George Franco, "We are working with authorities on the investigation. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our employees."

The clerk said she's risking her job by speaking publicly about the robbery and her safety concerns. She said she'd like the store to hire security guards. Despite her fears, she said she's planning on returning to work.

"Yes I will because it's a job," she said. "I have to feed my kids."

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Fulton County police.
