Fans Ready for Eagles Wildcard Game

PHILADELPHIA -

Six hundred people braved the frigid conditions Friday to get Lincoln Financial Field ready for when the New Orleans Saints face the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday night.

Crews worked through the night, plowing and shoveling out the product of 2014's first winter storm.

A few blocks away, fans gathered for a pep rally psyched for the game.

Forecasted temperatures at kickoff will be in the twenties, with a wind chill near single digits, but fans say they're ready.

"I'm actually going to wear my sweatshirt, I'm going to wear my big eagles jacket and I'm going to wear my jersey," said Eagles fan Alexander Garcia.

The Eagles faithful feel the frigid temps help their chances.

"Drew Brees, not a good record on the road, his play in the cold has been suspect, so we're looking to take advantage of that baby," said Eagles fan Matt Thesing.

But Mike Giovinazzo says the cold might prevent him from buying a ticket from a friend.

"Its a lot of money to be cold all night, you know. I can be home watching it warm," he said.

At the airport, Saints fan Jerome Foti entered the city in disguise.

"You got to hide this because you're liable to get beat up over here," he said.

But he wasn't short on confidence.

"We were hoping to get up here and get a little dirty bird gumbo," Foti said. "We usually reserve that for the Atlanta Falcons, but an eagle makes a pretty good gumbo too."

He has family in Philly who will be rooting on the Eagles Saturday night.

"Actually what we have on the game is that I paid for the tickets, but they'll reimburse me if they lose," Foti said.

Crews began working on the field and stands around 8 AM.
