HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A former softball coach at a northern New Jersey high school has been sentenced to five years' probation for engaging in sexual activity with a student.

The Record (http://bit.ly/1gz5Ujk) reports 29-year-old Jillian Clementi also must register as a sex offender and is barred from teaching or coaching anywhere in the country.

Clementi taught social studies at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township and coached softball at Wood-Ridge High School. She was arrested last year and charged with sexual activity with a 17-year-old Wood-Ridge student in 2009, and eventually pleaded guilty to criminal sexual contact

Bergen County prosecutors said the incidents took place at a Lyndhurst home where Clementi once lived. Authorities learned of the activity after a student who had heard allegations about the relationship told school officials.
