NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens was closed for almost two hours Sunday morning due to icing problems after a plane slid off the runway.

The plane had landed safely on Runway 22 Left at about 8 a.m. The plane was turning off of the runway onto a taxiway and slid into the snow.

Delta Flight 4100 had traveled from Toronto. The Delta Connection flight was flown by Endeavor Air (formerly Pinnacle Airlines) and had 35 passengers aboard.

Fox 5 News reported that there were no injuries and the CRJ 2 plane had already been towed to a terminal by 9:25 a.m. with the passengers still aboard the plane.  The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating the incident.

The Port Authority reopened the airport at about 10:15 a.m. and told travelers to check with their airline before heading to the airport.

The National Weather Service had posted a Freezing Rain Advisory for parts of the tristate area because of wet weather and cold temperatures. The region was expected to briefly climb out of sub-freezing temperatures before plunging back into a deep freeze early in the week.
