Police say they arrested a man early Sunday morning who is accused of running over his girlfriend's arm with his SUV.
Sean Thomas McElveen, 27, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say around 2:45 a.m., they came across McElveen's girlfriend lying in the middle of a three-lane road, trying to stand up. She was screaming for help and said that she thought her arm was broken.
The woman told police that she and McElveen, who have been dating for seven years, were on their way home from an uptown bar when they started arguing about an affair. Their argument resulted in McElveen allegedly hitting the woman twice in the head.
Police say McElveen was speeding near Abrams Road, and his girlfriend asked him to let her out of the vehicle, but he refused.
McElveen then crashed into a tree, reportedly pushed the woman out of his Land Rover and put the vehicle in reverse, running over the woman's arm with the back right tire.
McElveen's bond has been set at $25,000.
