More cold weather experiments you can try:

While we recommend staying indoors today, if you need a bit of fresh air, there are some cool experiments you can try outdoors.

THROW HOT WATER IN THE AIR-- AND IT FREEZES!
With wind chills reaching as low as -20 in some spots, this one is perfect. Grab a cup of boiling water, head outside, and toss it in the air (away from yourself and your friends!) and watch the once boiling water freeze to a snow like substance instantly.

FREEZE BUBBLES
Have you ever wanted bubbles to last longer? Well, in freezing temperatures bubbles will begin to freeze and harden, maintaining their shape almost instantly.

A BANANA HAMMER?
Can't find your hammer? In temperatures like these, you can do that with a banana. Yes, a banana.

First, leave the banana outside for about an hour and a half hour.  It'll be rock solid after that-- so much so that you'll actually be able to use it to hammer a nail!

It was commuter confusion out on Interstate 66 Monday morning. Drivers heading eastbound towards Washington D.C. wound up seeing their traffic lanes suddenly turn into a mess. Lane stripes somehow pulled away from the road surface and created a mess of tangled tape and lanes that didn't make sense.
