Seven years ago Steve Jobs foretold the future when Apple debuted the iPhone.

Tech expert Seth Porges credits the iPhone with ushering in a new era of innovation by switching the industry focus from hardware to software.

Suddenly apps no longer meant just mozzarella sticks. Cellphones morphed into not only a status symbol but also an extension of our bodies. We wanted, nay, needed everywhere we went for everything we did.

Hunched over in my seat, I write every script for every story in the notes section of my iPhone.

The iPhone created the demand for the android, its primary competitor.

The two phones now split the smartphone marketplace finding themselves in more than a billion nimble typing, swiping, searching hands all over the globe. And that evolution took only seven years.
