A 7-year-old football star from Mesquite is now a national champion.
Kloie Oguntodu won at the national Punt, Pass and Kick competition in the 6 and 7-year-old division. She and the other champs were honored this past weekend during the AFC playoff game in Denver.
She dominated the regional competition at AT&T Stadium earlier this month. Her coach couldn't stop praising her after that.
"This is her first year at the school and we got almost 900 kids so, you know, we started watching her and yeah she just got better and better," said Coach Rick Grady from Ruby Shaw Elementary.
Oguntodu learned the fundamentals from her father, who played at the collegiate level in Kansas. She said she practices every morning at school and on the weekends with her family.
