Girl, 17, shot at CTA bus stop during attempted robbery

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A teenage girl was shot at a bus stop during an attempted robbery Monday morning in the South Deering neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The 17-year-old girl was standing at a bus stop about 7:55 a.m. in the 10200 block of South Commercial Avenue when someone tried robbing her, then shot her, police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

The girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to her stomach, and is listed in serious condition, he said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
