Two-year-old girl brain-dead; face may have been duct taped

Posted: Updated:

Plano police are investigating after a 2-year-old girl who is now brain-dead was found unconscious at an apartment.

A fundraising page for Grace Lillian Ford said her face was found duct taped shut, and her family says the reason her body is being kept alive is so her organs can be donated.

Police said they got a welfare concern call from the girl's father on Jan. 9 about 1:40 p.m. from his apartment in the 1500 block of J Place.

The young girl was found unconscious and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where she was declared brain-dead three days later.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

People with information are asked to contact Plano police at 972-941-2148.

While Ford's family is in mourning, they hope her organs will save other lives.

"Grace's parents have decided that's what Grace would want, if she could tell us what she wanted," said the girl's aunt, Stephanie Beltran. "She was so sharing with other children with her toys...we know that is what she would want."
