Girl, 4, calls for help when mom on drugs passes out at wheel

Posted: Updated:

A Springtown woman was arrested by Parker County Sheriff's deputies recently after she fell into a drug-induced sleep in her truck and her 4-year-old daughter called for help, according to authorities.

Sheriff's officials say on Jan. 10, the girl called a family member from her mother's cell phone and gave her directions to her location, saying that her mother, 24-year-old Alicia Pruitt, was asleep and that they were on the side of the road.

The woman arrived on scene and said that the truck's engine was running and was in gear as Pruitt was leaning over the truck's console with her foot on the brake. The woman tried to wake up Pruitt by shaking her, and when that didn't work, she called the sheriff's office.

Deputies arrived on scene and described Pruitt as in a daze. Pruitt said that she was under the influence of illegally-obtained prescription narcotics and the synthetic cannabinoid K2, and did not remember driving to her location.

Deputies found drug paraphernalia and a package with three grams of suspected K2 in the truck.

Pruitt was arrested and charged with public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. She was later released on bond.

Pruitt's daughter has been placed in the custody of family members.
