Jonesboro store owner fuming after latest robbery

Posted: Updated:
JONESBORO, Ga. -

A business owner in Clayton County is fed up with criminals. She says her store has been robbed so many times that she's lost count.

Debbie Wade has owned the Old Country Store in Jonesboro for the past 21 years. She says it's the oldest business in Clayton County; it's been around since 1906.

It was once a place people relied on to get fresh milk and eggs, now it seems to be a place crooks target to make a quick buck.

The store was robbed again Thursday morning when a man came in with a knife forced the clerk to unlock the cash drawer. The robber took all the money inside.

Wade says she always tells her employees to just hand over the money, but said it's not what she would do.

"I wouldn't give them a dime off the floor. It makes me so mad to see these thugs around there," Wade said.

Wade has been dropping off photos of the man at other businesses in the area in hopes that someone will recognize him. In meantime, Wade said she's prepared if someone tries to rob her store again.

"I got a gun permit. I'm ready. When they come back, I'll be ready for them," Wade said.
