Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.

LANSING, Mich. (WJBK) -

Time for another installment in the "Gee-I-Should-Have-Been-A-Sports-Writer" mello-drama.

Periodically you have read lamentations from the political side of the news business hinting that the typical citizen is not that much interested in what happens in Lansing or Washington, but they light up when the next big sports story hits the front page.

And if you read this website often notice the box score and you know who is ready what.

Consumption was off the charts last week as the Detroit Lions dominated the top ten stories of the day.  Check out these numbers:  There were seven Lion's related stories that ate up the news hole totaling an incredible 8,300 hits.

Compare that to the meager 294 responses to the governor's wish list in his State of the State.

Sad isn't it.

Isn't it?

Let's be blunt. Sports always trumps politics . The 8,300 good folks who couldn't wait to comment on the new coach or other related pig skin stories were not as eager to devour what the governor of the state had in store for them.  After all who talks about that at the water cooler in the office?  "Hey, did you hear the governor's going to create an office of New Americans?"  OMG.

Mr. Snyder would never complain about being passed over for sports news but other politicians observe that it is difficult for them to explain what they are doing because they can't get the public's attention.

Now if one of those politicians breaks the law, or does something stupid which they are often do, the hits go off the charts, but the really important stuff such as tax cuts, the state budget, spending on schools, you name it, will never reach the 8,300 plateau.

Maybe the governor should hire the new Lions coach to help hawk his agenda.  What is that guy's name?
