The Great Bambino's Warm Heart

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - It’s hard to find a person today that is unaware about the amazing baseball records set by the great Babe Ruth. His name is forever tied with Major League Baseballs' Hall of Fame and he is widely considered to be one of the greatest baseball players of all time. His reputation and demeanor have always held him at a higher standard than his counterparts; yet many people do not know about the compassionate side to this symbolic baseball player. Luckily a new film is being released detailing one of Ruth's most inspiring and heartfelt moments of his career.

In 1926, a boy named Johnny Sylvester fell off a horse and was seriously injured. While in the hospital, Johnny's father managed to get Babe Ruth and the rest of the New York Yankees to sign a baseball and give it to him while he recovered. During this time, Ruth promised Johnny that he was going to knock a home run out of the park for him and he winded up doing so during the World Series.

Andrew Lily, a documentarian from New Jersey, released a film entitled I'll Knock a Homer for You which details the events of this heartfelt story. Lily, who ironically is Sylvester's great nephew, screened this film at the Baseball Hall of Fame which helped set the record straight about the relationship the Great Bambino had with his relative. Whether his film receives high praise or criticism, it’s easy to say that anything that deals with Babe Ruth is a story "larger than life" itself.

The town of Hoboken, New Jersey is cracking down on Uber cars driving in and picking up passengers in the city. Uber is an app that you can use to request a car service to pick you up, but city officials say they are not licensed to operate in town. Marcus Enriquez was actually thrown out of an Uber car by a Hoboken police officer. He said he was on his way to work outside of the Hoboken taxi stand when a cop knocked on the window, kicked him out of the car and ticketed the Uber driver.
