Could Husband Working Longer Make Wife Healthier?

Posted: Updated:

A lot of people say spending time together is the key to a happy marriage. However, a new study may have you thinking twice.

The new study says that spending less time together could be the best for your relationship, at least when it comes to physical health. This report was done by the University of Texas and Indiana.

The report says that longer hours worked by the husband are associated with a healthier wife. In fact, the study found that wives seem healthiest when husbands work more than fifty hours a week.

Why the association between longer hours and wife's health? According to the authors, husbands who work long hours may have more money to pay for services that their wives traditionally do, for example, pay for cleaners. Without the weight of domestic chores, wives now can spend more time exercising.

The study looked at almost 4,000 middle-aged men and women and followed them from 1979 to 2004.
