Dallas police officer arrested for sex assault while on duty

Posted: Updated:

A Dallas police officer has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman while on duty.

Officer La'cori Johnson was arrested on Tuesday for sexual assault, which is a second degree felony.

Police said the sex assault occurred on Sept. 9, 2013 when Johnson stopped a woman in the 9300 block of Larga Drive. Johnson told the woman she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest, but he wouldn't take her to jail if she had sex with him.

Police said Johnson took the woman to a nearby location and forcibly had sex with the woman. The woman told police about the incident on Oct. 4, 2013 and DPD opened a public integrity investigation.

An internal affairs investigation started on Jan. 24. Johnson was questioned for the first time by internal affairs on Tuesday and subsequently resigned, then arrested.

Johnson was hired in April 2009 and worked in the Northwest Patrol Division.

Johnson has been taken to Dallas County Jail.
