Rutgers Bullying

Posted: Updated:
Piscataway, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Earlier this year former Rutgers football player Jevon Tyree claimed that he was humiliated and bullied by former Assistant Football Coach Dave Cohen.

But now an investigation by a law firm hired by Rutgers found that although Cohen did use inappropriate language and did engage in behavior that Rutgers doesn’t condone, the University properly addressed the behavior and should not face additional sanctions.

Attorney, sports agent and adjunct professor at Rutgers, Jason Belzer, talked about how Rutgers may have handled this case properly, but there seems to be a larger problem at hand.

“I think that they are slowly taking steps in the right direction, but Rutgers for a very very long time has had a lot of institutional issues, particularly on the athletic side,” he explained.

Coach Cohen was fired at the end of the season but not because of this issue. He was let go because of the performance of the team.

Jevon Tyree is no longer a member of the Rutgers football team.

Recently, Chasing New Jersey uncovered a privacy violation by the NJDEP and Parks Police at Liberty State Park. There, police were putting social security numbers on parking tickets and citations that were being left on vehicles for anyone to see. Well now the ACLU has sent a letter to the NJDEP telling them to stop with this practice because it's against people's constitutional rights. ACLU Legal Director Edward Barocas further discussed the organizations involvement.
