Garden State High

Posted: Updated:
Linden, New Jersey (My9NJ) - New Jersey went through a three year battle just to get medical marijuana passed and facilities open in the Garden State, but with the recent success of legalized marijuana in Washington and Colorado, one New Jersey legislator is pushing to legalize it all together here too.

State Senator Nicholas Scutari thinks that legal recreational marijuana use would be a positive for New Jersey and he plans to introduce a new bill in the next month to legalize marijuana use and have it regulated and highly taxed, similar to the successful model in other states.

“We can be seeing something like millions and millions of dollars in tax revenue and economic activity every single week. I mean the successes in Colorado have far exceeded their expectations,” Scutari explains.

Senator Scutari discussed whether or not this legislation has any real chance of becoming law with Governor Christie in office and being such an outspoken opponent of this issue.

“What I say to the governor and what I say to the people that have hesitance is what do you think we should do? Should we make it illegal so that everybody stops? We’ve tried that, we’ve tried that for a hundred years and it hasn’t worked,” he said.

Even with Christie’s opposition, a majority of people support legislation to legalize marijuana and a Chasing New Jersey Facebook poll shows that 55% of residents are in favor of the bill.

Statistically, 800,000 people are arrested on marijuana charges annually and marijuana incarceration costs $15 billion per year. Those numbers have some saying it’s time to legalize it in New Jersey and bring that money back into the economy. What do you think?

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
