Thanks to this year's lower-than-usual Super Bowl ticket prices, a man recently surprised his mother, a diehard Seattle Seahawks fan, with tickets Sunday's big game, where the Seahawks will take on the Denver Broncos. The best part is that he captured her reaction on camera.
In a YouTube video that's gone viral, a man named Mike Harris has his mother open a FedEx package to reveal three 10th row tickets to the game at MetLife Stadium – one for himself, his mother and his childhood best friend.
The shocked woman looks at the camera with wide eyes, exclaiming, "What?!" when she realizes what her son has given her.
"What are you talking about?!" she continues in disbelief.
"Those are Super Bowl tickets," Harris says off camera.
"No! No, they're not!" his mom says. The woman cups her hand over her mouth and begins to cry happy tears.
Harris explained on YouTube that he was able to get a good online deal on the tickets, and that his mom had missed welcoming the Seahawks back home after their 1983 AFC Championship win because she was pregnant with Harris.
In later years, his family had wanted to go to Super Bowls, but couldn't afford to.
Harris credits a website with finding his good deal, saying they were $1,000 cheaper than they had been the week before.
"Thanks to a random headline I saw out of the corner of my eye after giving up hope, myself, essentially my mom's second son since I was five years old who she rarely gets to see anymore, and most importantly mom herself are heading to see the Seahawks play in the Super Bowl," Harris wrote.
"Mom was there for the send-off of the Seahawks in person, with no clue of what was coming. She came to my house to see me and my dogs, and the FedEx guy arrived and I signed for the package. I opened it, and handed it over to her. Thirty years after she skipped their welcome home for my sake, I was able to return the favor in the biggest way I could ever think of. I'm excited to go see the game, but there was nothing more meaningful than to see my mom's reaction that I've shared in the video."
The game begins at 5:30 p.m. CST and will air on FOX.
