North Texas students compete for FLL Regional Championships Robotics Tournament

Posted: Updated:
DALLAS -

56 teams of young "engineers in training" started a day of competition Saturday in the First Lego® League regional championship robotics tournament Saturday.

The students have been preparing for six months for the event. They've been studying, dissecting and analyzing real-world challenges associated with natural disasters and coming up with solutions.

The top team will advance to the World Festival in St. Louis, MO, on April 23-26.

The 550 kids build and program robots using Legos® to score points in matches on natural-disaster-themed playing fields.

The event lasts until 5:00 p.m. and is at the Hockaday School at 11600 Welch Rd. in Dallas. It is free and open to the public.
