Barricaded man taken into custody in Fort Worth

Posted: Updated:

Police arrested a man after a five-hour standoff in west Fort Worth early Monday.

The 27-year-old barricaded himself around midnight at the Ridglea Village Apartment Homes near the Ridglea Country Club.

FWPD Captain Scott Conn said he was exhibiting mental health issues and called police because he thought prowlers were inside his apartment.

The man fired several shots and at least one round hit a neighbor's apartment.

Police evacuated the man's wife and about a dozen neighbors while they tried to reach him.

He finally surrendered after police deployed tear gas, Conn said.

No one was hurt.

The man is now facing a dangerous conduct charge.
