Derek Kirchner from DTE says an advanced metering system can also help you save on your energy bills. Advanced meters have already been installed and tested in more than one million homes in southeast Michigan.

The advanced meters enable the power company to do readings remotely, and even find out when your power is out.

DTE plans to install advanced meters at every home and business in southeast Michigan within the next few years. Customers will be notified when changes will be made.
