Indoor Gun Range May Be Built Next Door To Daycare Center

Posted: Updated:

A gun range in Minnesota is expanding rapidly and gaining customers almost exponentially, but that isn't what makes their business stand out the most today. They have began offering special practice ranges for their devoted customers only. To do so, they've decided to open a gun range just a short drive from their store. This location, however, shares a wall with a daycare center.

The business plans assure the daycare staff that double cement walls will muffle the popping sounds of guns firing, but Amber Brick from Little Me Child Care Center is not convinced.

"According to the reports I've seen, there will be popping noises. The children will be able to hear," said Brick. "There's always room for error when you put kids so close to guns."

City leaders seem neutral towards the idea, claiming the drive to seek gun education in a controlled setting is respectable.

"Comes down to people who want to get educated and have safe place to shoot weapons. Rather have them here than going behind homes, which we've had in the past," said Ramsey Police Chief James Way.

Despite this, Brick has started a petition and hopes that the business would choose a different space for their expansion. She hopes the 40 or 50 kids in her day care do not have to deal with a gun range next door.

If the City Council does grant final approval, the owners could begin their remodel by the middle of March.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
