Nellis Air Force Base, NV -

An Airman deployed in Africa returns to Las Vegas' Nellis Air Force base and meets his newborn son for the first time. FOX's Jon Castagnino was there for the homecoming and the family reunion.

"This is Fulton Reed Schott he was born on Christmas day, he was 9 pounds 3 ounces this is 6 weeks today and he'll be meeting dad for the first time," Shelby Schott said.

The adorable Fulton Schott was the first baby to be born on the base on Christmas. It's the 3rd child for mom Shelby, but the first birth without her husband at her side.

"I would say before was the hardest. the waiting anticipating it was coming and we didn't know when, but luckily we got to facetime during the birth so he made it just in time, " Shelby said.

After months of deployment with the 823rd maintenance squadron and days of traveling back the staff sergeant locks onto his target and moves in as dad for the first time.

Fulton's birth delayed the family's Christmas celebration dad has two other kids to get home to. They don't know he's coming.

"I wanna see their faces they'll flip out it'll be fun," Staff Sargent Daniel Schott said.

At the family's home Santa makes an appearance. While dad gets into a big box outside and the kids unwrap the biggest present they've ever seen

This is the first moment the family now 5 spent together.

The kid says he knew Christmas was coming so that's why he could wait for so long just like daddy.
