DPD: Serial rape suspect arrested

Posted: Updated:

Dallas police believe a serial rapist is now behind bars.

Jesus Alalid Madrid-Dubon, 27, of Irving is currently in jail on one count of aggravated kidnapping. Additionally, police say they plan to file a charge of aggravated sexual assault against him next week.

Madrid-Dubon was arrested Friday, and his bond is set at $1 million.

Police believe Madrid-Dubon is connected to three cases, and the department held a press conference Friday morning to share some details of the arrest.

Deputy Chief Gilberto Garza said investigators linked two sexual assaults that happened in an industrial area of northwest Dallas to Madrid-Dubon.

A 16-year-old female was raped at gunpoint in a parking lot on Feb. 4, and an adult female was raped in a vacant lot on Jan. 7.

Those cases were then linked to another rape at knifepoint that happened in a warehouse parking lot on East R.L. Thornton in August of last year. In that case, a suspect was identified in a lineup, but police did not have enough evidence to move forward.

Garza said the cases were connected through similarities in how the rapes were carried out. Some of those similarities include the attacks happening between 6 and 10 p.m. in secluded but open areas, a white or cream color Jeep-type SUV at the crime scenes and a weapon being used in at least two of the attacks.

Physical evidence in two of the offenses has been submitted to be analyzed. Results are pending.

Police are putting the word out because they believe there could be more victims, who they hope will now come forward.

Thomas Medellin, Madrid-Dubon's father-in-law, was shocked to hear that he is a serial rape suspect.

"I don't think it's him," said Medellin. "I think it must be someone else."

Medellin's daughter has three children with Madrid-Dubon, and they're expecting a fourth together. Medellin has known Madrid-Dubon for nearly seven years.

"He's, I mean, he's kind of quiet, but like I said, I mean he always stay at home," said Medellin.

Medellin says he has not yet talked to his daughter or Madrid-Dubon.

"Yeah, like I say, he's a good father," said Medellin. "Like I say, he's always taking care of the kids when he's not working."
