A Dallas Police officer was fired Friday after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman.
Police say on Oct. 6, 2013, Senior Cpl. Oscar Araiza was off duty at a Dallas bar and ran into a female acquaintance and her friend.
The three drank alcohol and later drove to Araiza's townhome. There, the acquaintance's friend slept on the living room sofa.
Around 3 a.m., Araiza's acquaintance called for a ride and left, leaving her friend asleep.
A short while later, that friend reportedly awoke to find Araiza sexually assaulting her.
An internal affairs investigation concluded that Araiza engaged in adverse conduct, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with sexual assault.
Araiza can appeal the decision. He was hired in June 1995.
Araiza is the second Dallas Police officer arrested for sexual assault this year.
Officer La'Cori Johnson is accused of raping a woman last September.
The woman told police Johnson forced her to have sex with him, and in exchange, he would not arrest her on an outstanding warrant.
