UGA student found dead is identified

Posted: Updated:

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - A University of Georgia student found dead at an apartment complex in downtown Athens has been identified as 22-year-old George Kuei.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports that Kuei, a member of UGA's class of 2014, was studying biology and psychology.

Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson say there was no obvious evidence of foul play, but authorities were awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Athens-Clarke County police Maj. Mark Sizemore has said police received a call early Thursday evening of a dead male at the 909 Broad Street Apartments, and detectives and forensics personnel were sent to the scene to investigate.

An autopsy was planned at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's State Crime Lab in Decatur.
