Two pedestrians injured in Gilbert car accident

Posted: Updated:
GILBERT, Ariz. -

Two pedestrians were injured when they were struck by a car that spun out of control during an accident near Greenfield Rd & Pecos in Gilbert on Saturday.

Gilbert Fire Department officials say that the pedestrians were taken to an area hospital with injuries described as serious.  On Sunday, a spokesperson for Gilbert Police says the two pedestrians are expected to survive their injuries.

Police say an 81-year-old driver turned left in front of another vehicle.  After the two vehicles collided, the senior citizen's car spun around and hit a third vehicle, then continues spinning and hit the two pedestrians. Witnesses tell FOX 10 that the pedestrians were visiting the new LDS temple nearby.
