Police seek tips in copper wire theft from APS facility

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

Police asking for your help tracking down a man accused of stealing an entire roll of copper from an APS facility and it was all caught on camera.

Surveillance video from the Arizona Public Service facility in Phoenix showed a man climbing over a brick wall into a substation.

The thief made off with a roll of copper wire worth several hundred dollars. Investigators believe he may have had some help getting away with the copper. Police think the people involved left the scene on mountain bikes.

"Clearly by the numbers he's probably done this before, he may visit many salvage yards so some people even police officers may know this guy selling a lot of this copper wire and now we have the crime that he's good for," said Sgt. Darren Burch.
