The Girl Scouts at Preston Hollow Elementary School in Dallas know how to mobilize for a mission: the 35 Scouts are sending 77 boxes of their legendary cookies, along with Valentine's Day cards, to military men and women.
The effort is part of a project called Troop to Troop. From now to the end of February, you can donate $4, and instead of taking home Girl Scout cookies, your box or boxes will be donated to troops overseas, at Fort Hood, or at the United Service Organizations.
Donations will also go to the American Red Cross for victims of disasters.
The Scouts, who make up Troop 6464, also made pink cards with hearts in the middle to send to troops.
The girls signed each card and wrote messages like, "Some heroes wear capes; my hero wears combat boots," and "The land of the free because of the brave."
Fort Hood troops will get their cards delivered in March, and troops overseas will get theirs sometime in April.
Last year, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas sent 178,000 boxes of cookies to troops.
