You Shall Not PATH

Posted: Updated:
Jersey City, New Jersey (My9NJ) - The Port Authority is shutting down a major PATH line on weekends for a whole year and while local politicians are fuming about the unexpected and abrupt news, some PATH riders are just as mad.

Jersey City resident Dori Gray is furious with the Port Authority over the Exchange Place to World Trade Center line shutdown.

“I moved to Jersey City to save money on rent and to get more amenities and because it’s so easy to get back into Manhattan. I go into Manhattan many times a week, I go in every weekend and a big part of the reason I chose Jersey City is because it’s so quick and easy to get in usually,” Gray explained

Like millions of others, Gray moved across the river from Manhattan for a better quality of life in north Jersey. She says she loved living in Jersey City the past three years largely because the World Trade Center PATH line made it convenient for her to commute back and forth from the city, but not anymore.

“Now getting into Manhattan is going to take at least twice as long, on a more crowded train, and it’s just not even worth the hassle anymore,” Gray said.

It’s no secret that the PATH trains are already overcrowded even on weekends. Still there has been no clarification from the Port Authority on what exactly this apparent “safety equipment installation” entails and why it’s necessary to shut down Jersey’s main weekend PATH line for an entire year.

Sadly, Jeter the pit bull puppy is missing. While dogs go missing all the time, there are two specific things that distinguish this story from others. First, several witnesses say Jeter didn't wonder off and that they saw Jeter get taken. Second, the community has rallied in a huge way to help find the loveable pup.

Empty spaces are popping up all over Atlantic City with the closing of three major casinos: Revel, Trump Plaza, and Showboat. Even with all of this going on, the city is still trying to use eminent domain to take away the home of an Atlantic City local legend, Piano Man Charlie Birnbaum. Birnbaum has tuned pianos for icons like: Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, and John Legend. He's been a resident of Atlantic City in the same home for over 50 years.
