Rutherford: 'I have not seen the report'

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Associated Press) -

Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford says he has not read the report of an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and political pressure in his office, but a spokeswoman says he might have read an executive summary.

The Republican candidate for governor promised to release an outside review of claims made by an ex-employee in a federal lawsuit filed last week.

But his lawyer announced Thursday that it would stay secret because of federal court rules.

Rutherford told Lee Enterprises Newspaper's Springfield bureau that he had not read the report and didn't know if he would.

Spokeswoman Mary Frances Bragiel says Rutherford read an executive summary of the report, although she didn't know what was in it.

She later said he "may have" read a "draft" of the summary.
