Woman hit and killed on Northwest Highway in Dallas

Posted: Updated:

A woman died after she was hit by a vehicle on Northwest Highway in Dallas.  When police officers arrived in the 1700 block of Northwest Highway on Saturday, they learned a car driven by Asela Cleofus-Luis may have run out of gas and was parked in the right lane.

Cleofus-Luis had left the vehicle and was standing in the center lane of oncoming traffic.  She was hit by a vehicle that was trying to avoid her.  Cleofus-Luis was taken to Parkland Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Cleofus-Luis worked at the Motel 6 in Lewisville.  Her family says she came to Texas from Mexico at least 15 years ago looking for a better life.  Her family wants to send her body back to Mexico for burial.
