CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Illinois residents will vote to decide the Republican candidate to run against Gov. Pat Quinn in the March 18 primary. But voters will not be able to cast their ballots unless they register by Tuesday.

Four men are running for the spot: Treasurer Dan Rutherford, businessman Bruce Rauner and state Sens. Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady.

Those who have recently moved or changed their names must re-register by Tuesday night. The Chicago Board of Elections is open for registration on President's Day, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. – midnight on Tuesday. The office is located at 69 W. Washington St. in Chicago.

The Ill. gubernatorial GOP primary election will be the first time 17-year-old residents will be able to vote. They must be 18 by the Nov. 4 General Election to qualify. Cook County Clerk David Orr said nearly 1,000 17-year-olds have registered to vote in Cook County alone.

Orr said that registering to vote is a first step toward civic participation. Voters will have a chance to vote for their party's nomination for governor, among other statewide elected offices.

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn is seeking re-election. He faces a primary challenge from activist Tio Hardiman.
