Arlington hit-and-run victim takes first steps since incident

Posted: Updated:

An elderly Arlington hit-and-run victim took his first steps Monday since being hit by a driver who kept going.

Terry Pinkston, 73, said he doesn't remember the impact but he does feel very fortunate to be alive, much less up and taking steps 48 hours later.

Police said a person driving a blue Chevrolet Cavalier hit Pinkston in the 2400 block of Ascension Blvd. in Arlington on Saturday morning.

A driver hit him as he walked on an Arlington sidewalk. The vehicle left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk.

"It's scary. If they had just stayed there and acted like they cared, it would have made a difference," said Pinkston.

A Good Samaritan from a nearby apartment helped Pinkston get medical attention.

Police are still looking for the hit and run driver, but said they have several leads thanks to media attention.
