Acupuncture As A Weight loss Tool

Posted: Updated:
Madison, New Jersey (My9NJ) - For years, acupuncture has been considered a great option for patients to help alleviate aches and pain, but did you know that it could also help with weight loss?

Dr. Henry McCann is on the New Jersey Board of Acupuncture. He says that acupuncture can help any solid weight loss program by addressing the root cause of bad eating in the first place.

“So acupuncture to some extent at the very basic level can help with relaxation, can help with restoring normal sleep function, can help with restoring normal sort of sensation to the body if there is any area of pain or discomfort,” he explained.

The practice of acupuncture is thousands of years old and it works by placing several small needles into sensory centers throughout the body.

“If something is stuck in the storm sewer right in front of your house, what’s the treatment for that? You go in with a broom handle or something like that and you get it in there and you sort of shake it up and shaking it up here in the middle, gets the puddle to go away there and gets the dryness to go away down the line, so everything is in a normal state of movement,” McCann explained.

McCann also said that acupuncture works best in a series of treatments and is a great way to help reduce stress in the body.

The Showboat and Trump Plaza Casinos are both scheduled to close next month and Mayor Don Guardian says that the city needs to figure out a way to change things if it wants to survive, but he said it’s not dead yet! “So Atlantic City may be 15 years after Vegas and I realized that it’s not all about casinos, it’s about the overall experience of coming to resorts,” he said.
