Garland ISD teachers, administrators call for firing of superintendent

Posted: Updated:

There's anger and unrest in the Garland school district, where teachers and administrators are calling for the superintendent to be fired.

They claim that the relatively new superintendent, Bob Morrison, is a bully, and want a longtime administrator, Dr. Gary Reeves, to be reinstated.

The school board met Tuesday night at Garland ISD headquarters over a bond issue, which was tabled.

No public comment was allowed, but nearly every seat was filled. Outside, men and women wore bags over their heads, saying they were teachers and administrators who feared they'd be fired if Morrison saw them there.

Reeves was put on administrative leave last week after an investigation of the school district's visa work program that brings in foreign teachers. Last week, the investigation was also turned over to Homeland Security.
