DOT crews fixing potholes all around NYC

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The Department of Transportation is addressing New York City's major pothole problem.  Dozens of DOT crews were hitting the streets and highways in all five boroughs patching up potholes..

Officials are telling drivers to expect delays.

DOT crews will be resurfacing key portions of the westbound Belt Parkway between Flatbush Avenue and Knapp Street. Two of three lanes were  closed between 8:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Saturday into Sunday, February 23.

This partial closure allowed for targeted resurfacing of areas requiring maintenance, including both milling and paving in only one evening, speeding the reopening of this stretch of the roadway.

The New York State Department of Transportation was also resurfacing portions of the eastbound Staten Island Expressway between Bradley Avenue and Manor Road.

The department says more than 117,000 potholes have been filled around the city so far this year.
